چکیده
Objective: To evaluate the gastroprotective effects of β 3 -adrenoceptor agonists CGP 12177A and SR 58611A, on water immersion plus restraint stress (WIRS)-induced gastric ulceration in rats. Material and Methods: Drugs were administered (5, 10 and 15 mg/kg, p.o. ) 30 min prior to the ulcerogenic procedure. Ulcer index and the score for intensity of intraluminal bleeding were determined. Gastric wall mucus content (GWMC) and mast cell counts were determined in the glandular portion of the stomach. Results: A dose-dependent reduction in the ulcer index was observed with both the drugs. A significant rise in the GWMC in the glandular tissue at 15 mg/kg dose was caused by the β 3 adrenoceptors agonists. In the glandular tissue the mast cell count was significantly decreased at 10 and 15 mg/kg dose with both drugs. Conclusion: The present study shows the gastroprotective effect of β 3 -adrenoceptor agonists CGP 12177A and SR 58611A against WIRS-induced gastric ulceration in rats. The gastroprotective effect may be mediated by the enhancement of mucin activity and the decrease in mast cell

Gastroprotective effect of Alhagi camelorum on experimental gastric ulcer in rats
Introduction: Alhagi camelorum belongs to the Leguminosae family is used in Iranian folk medicine to treat some gastric diseases. The present study was undertaken to evaluate the Alhagi camelorum aqueous extract for anti-ulcer activity in rats. Methods: Male Wistar rats were pretreated with the A. camelorum aqueous extract (150, 300 or 450 mg/kg of B.W., P.O.) before induction of gastric ul...
متن کاملEffects of selective dopamine receptor (Dl and D2) agonists on stress-induced gastric ulcer in rat
It has been revealed that dopamine (DA) modulates gastro-duodenal responses to stress. Several investigations have been made to identify the mechanisms and/or receptors by which DA or its promoters exert their gastroprotective function against stress, however there are many discrepancies in this respect. In order to clarify the relative contribution and/or interaction of two DA receptor subty...
متن کاملCarbon nanotubes provide longer lasting gastroprotective effects for anandamide in stress-induced gastric ulcer in rat
Introduction: Anandamide (AEA) has shown a wide spectrum of pharmacological activities including the effects against the peptic ulcer, meanwhile, the poor solubility or short half-life may negatively affect the effectiveness of this valuable cannabinoid. Based on the superior properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for controlled drug delivery, we aimed to prepare AEA-CNTs complex and evaluat...
متن کاملGastroprotective effect of simvastatin against experimentally induced gastric ulcers in rats: Role of ATP-sensitive K channels
Simvastatin appeared to have additional benefits beyond their lipid lowering effects, which has led to interest in the use of this class of drugs outside the field of cardiovascular disease. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the possible gastroprotective effect of simvastatin against both indomethacin and cold restraint stress (CRS) induced gastric ulcers in rats and to study its effect on g...
متن کاملEffect of SR 58611A, a beta-3 receptor agonist, against experimental gastro-duodenal ulcers.
The present study was designed to study the effect of SR 58611A, a selective beta 3-adrenoceptor agonist against gastric ulcers: pylorus ligation, water immersion plus restraint stress (WIRS), ethanol, aspirin-induced and on cysteamine-induced duodenal ulcers, in rats. SR 58611A (10 mg/kg, p.o.) was found to be effective in attenuating gastric ulceration and the results were comparable with tho...
